- Of all the countries on the Trans Dinarica, Croatia is probably the most touristic — because of its beautiful Adriatic coast, stretching from Istria to Dubrovnik. But we planned our cycling route away from populated cities and beaches: through the Velebit National Park, past the Zrmanja river canyon, under the Dinara Mountain, which gave its name to the Dinaric Mountain range and this cycling route generally. We designed the itinerary so that cyclists can visit (or start or end) the journey in larger cities with good (international) connections: Rijeka, Zadar or Split.
| Some of us have visited Albania several times in recent decade, and every time we are surprised by a new road (or a new skyscraper in the capital Tirana). Due to the diversity, the contrast between different parts of the country, the southernmost on the Trans Dinarica, we created two routes there: one through the capital Tirana and the other, a bit more adventurous, which leads from the Albanian mountains closer to the northern border towards Lake Ohrid, where the route turns into North Macedonia.
